What to expect
The Quantum Fiber construction process includes pre-construction work, installing and preparing fiber-optic lines for service, and restoration. We often work with contractors who help us during construction, and a Quantum Fiber project manager heads up the entire process, so every detail meets our high standards. We're also committed to complying with all permit and policy requirements in the communities where we work.
Preparation
All underground utilities will be located before construction begins along your property easement. If you see flags and spray paint in your yard and along the road and sidewalks, that means the construction team is in the area.
Locating Existing Utilities
We will cross other utilities to lay piping for our fiber. As required by law, we must locate the existing underground utilities and ensure we know exactly where they are to prevent damage.
Construction Timelines
During construction, our teams will place pipes and pull fiber through them. Completion timelines vary based on the size of your neighborhood, the weather, and other factors related to establishing the network.
Burying the Line
To provide quick service after construction, a temporary fiber line will be placed on the ground. This line serves our customers during the installation process. Typically, the fiber line remains on the ground for eleven business days until it is permanently buried. The fiber line is safe. It is NOT high voltage.
Our Commitment to You
As your neighborhood subscribes to Quantum Fiber, we might need access to the easement on or around your yard multiple times to complete installation.
.
The construction phase is temporary. We know it can be a hassle, but don’t worry—we’ll leave everything just how we found it.
